CNC machining in Mexico
One tight tolerance can determine the machine, fixture, inspection plan, and price. Our U.S. team works through those tradeoffs with you and manages the Mexico route.
Tolerances and fixturing on Mexico machined parts
Critical tolerances, fixtures, and machining cost
One tolerance can decide the machine, fixture, cycle time, and inspection method for the entire part. We work through its function, GD&T, material, annual volume, and required records with you. If the route fits, the written quote names the selected Mexico plant and the controls the part needs.
- Toleranceconfirmed for selected part
- Critical featuresreviewed for CMM scope
- Machine axesverified for assigned plant
- Lead timequoted per program
First article and CMM scope set for a Mexico plant
Inspection from first article through shipment
A first article and its dimensional report are defined before production release when required by the part. The quality plan identifies in-process checks, CMM inspection on critical features, and material traceability. The documentation package for each shipment is confirmed with the assigned plant before quoting.

Machine envelope and axes verified for a Mexico plant
Machine axes, envelope, and CMM checks
Depending on the qualified partner, 3, 4, or 5-axis machining can produce faces, pockets, contours, and other features, while cylindrical geometry can be turned. We verify machine envelope, axes, achievable tolerances, and coordinate measuring machine capability for the assigned plant before quoting.
- Processes
- 3, 4, or 5 axes requested; equipment verified for assigned plant
- Standard machined tolerance
- Based on material, setup, and part function
- Critical feature tolerance
- Set by feature function and inspection method
- Files
- STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG and 2D drawings
- Production lead time
- Confirmed with the selected plant; first article scheduled separately
Materials
Machining aluminum, stainless, titanium, and plastics
Aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and engineering plastics are evaluated for Monterrey programs; specific alloys and tempers, plant capacity, and finish options are confirmed at feasibility review. Parts may ship as-machined. Anodizing, powder coating, plating, passivation, and bead blasting are reviewed only when compatible with the assigned machining route.
Example parts
Fittings, manifolds, and functional hardware
Industrial fittings, manifolds, and mechanical components are examples to assess for a Mexico route, alongside electronics enclosures, thermal parts, and stainless or titanium hardware for energy systems, plus automotive housings, brackets, and shafts. Features controlling function get reviewed so unnecessary geometry or tolerance callouts do not add avoidable machining time.

Features controlling function
From CAD review to machined parts out of Mexico
From CAD review to dock delivery
CAD files, drawings, and GD&T callouts get reviewed before programming, fixturing, unit prices, material, and finish are quoted. A first article proves the setup, then machining runs under documented process controls. Parts get inspected, with customs and freight to the dock coordinated as importer of record.

CNC machining in Mexico, common buyer questions
Frequently asked questions
How are machining tolerances confirmed?
We start with features that control fit and function, then check material, fixture, machine, and CMM method at the proposed plant. Requests around ±0.005 inch or tighter get a part-specific feasibility review before a tolerance is written into the quote.
Which materials can be assessed for Mexico machining?
Aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and engineering plastics are materials we can assess. We confirm stock, machine, and finish fit at the proposed plant before recommending a Mexico route.
How do we identify avoidable machining cost?
Internal corners, fillet sizes, edge-break callouts, and tolerances get reviewed against part function. Features needing specialty tooling or extra setups add machining time. Those costs get flagged during review so engineering can assess changes before quoting.
What records accompany machined parts?
The records are set in the quality plan for the part. A Certificate of Conformance, first-article report, dimensional report, in-process checks, CMM inspection, or material traceability may be required. We confirm the package with the selected plant before quoting.
